Girl, Stop Apologizing (Audible Exclusive Edition): A Shame-Free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals

READ or DOWNLOAD

This exclusive Audible edition includes five downloadable prints featuring beautifully designed quotes from the book and access to Rachel’s inspirational keynote from the wildly popular Rise Conference.

I believe we can change the world. But first, we’ve got to stop living in fear of being judged for who we are.

Rachel Hollis has seen it too often: women allowing their lives to pass them by. They feel a tugging on their hearts for something more, but they’re afraid of embarrassment, of falling short of perfection, of stepping too far outside the norm. Hollis’s energy and passion are undeniable as she powerfully narrates her own words, encouraging women to live up to their full potential and chase their most audacious dreams.

In Girl, Stop Apologizing, #1 New York Times best-selling author and founder of a multimillion-dollar media company, Rachel Hollis sounds a wake-up call and lets listeners in on her personal roadmap for success. She knows many women have been taught to define themselves through other people-whether as wife, mother, daughter, or employee-instead of learning how to own who they are and what they want. Challenging women everywhere to stop talking themselves out of their dreams, Hollis identifies the excuses to discard, the behaviors to adopt, and the skills to acquire on the path to believing in yourself.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library on your web browser, along with the audio.

REVIEW

This is Rachel’s second book and just like her first book it is being marketed to both a Christian and secular audience. But the contents give one cause for alarm as there are many anti-biblical principles and thought processes that raise some serious red flags. Just like her first book, she is putting herself and her life above all else and presenting this as the way to live even if you are a Christian.(which is secular humanism). If you read reviews on the Gospel Coalition and elsewhere they will confirm that the principles touted in this and her previous book are not Biblical. It’s very sad to see people with a platform use it for personal glory and advancement and then claim to be a Christian. Once again, if this were being marketed to an exclusive secular audience then the views presented would be pretty typical. If you’re a Christian however, you will find the contents to be contrary to the Bible.936 peo

Pianists Guide to Standard Teaching and Performance Literature

This reference book is an invaluable resource for teachers, students and performers for evaluating and selecting piano solo literature. Concise and thoroughly researched, thousands of works, from the Baroque through the Contemporary periods, have been graded and evaluated in detail. Includes an alphabetical list of composers, explanations of works, and much more.

REVIEWS

1.It deliberately limits itself to things the author believes no harder than the Bach Three-Part Inventions or Beethoven Op 49. It also largely avoids transcriptions. The text tends to be about as succinct as that in Hinson, and thus just as frustrating: a little more detail, even if opinionated, often would be welcome. It also mostly limits itself to things in print at the time of its publication over twenty years ago. With the rise of the web and IMSLP this is an unfortunate limitation for things published in past centuries; and, of course, it necessarily omits the wonderful resources now published electronically directly by composers.

On the good side, I think there is a serious, and welcome, effort to include some pretty obscure things, particularly relatively easy ones. I’m pretty sure there are things in here I’ve not seen cited elsewhere. And it shows considerable respect to some valuable, easy pieces that aren’t profound enough to get much play in most other reference works. Again, it is over twenty years old, though, so nothing really recent, nor reflecting recent revisions of taste, are included.

2.It does have an oddly hit or miss quality in some cases. For example, only a few of the Mompou Cancion e Danza and Impressiones Intimas are mentioned, though I’m pretty sure many of those neglected are still in the difficulty range covered.

As a physical object it is substandard: it is feebly bound and pages were coming out within an hour of my first opening it. This is particular frustrating in a reference work.

On balance, I guess I’d categorize it as a good start, but it could benefit tremendously from a thorough revision and updating. Though perhaps in this day and age such a revision would be better as a living on-line resource rather than as a static book.

The War on Normal People The Truth About America’s

READ or DOWNLOAD

The New York Times bestseller from 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, this thought-provoking and prescient call-to-action outlines the urgent steps America must take, including Universal Basic Income (UBI), to stabilize our economy amid rapid technological change and automation. The shift toward automation is about to create a tsunami of unemployment. Not in the distant future–now. One recent estimate predicts 45 million American workers will lose their jobs within the next twelve years–jobs that won’t be replaced. In a future marked by restlessness and chronic unemployment, what will happen to American society?

In The War on Normal People, Andrew Yang paints a dire portrait of the American economy. Rapidly advancing technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics and automation software are making millions of Americans’ livelihoods irrelevant. The consequences of these trends are already being felt across our communities in the form of political unrest, drug use, and other social ills. The future looks dire-but is it unavoidable?

In The War on Normal People, Yang imagines a different future–one in which having a job is distinct from the capacity to prosper and seek fulfillment. At this vision’s core is Universal Basic Income, the concept of providing all citizens with a guaranteed income-and one that is rapidly gaining popularity among forward-thinking politicians and economists. Yang proposes that UBI is an essential step toward a new, more durable kind of economy, one he calls “human capitalism.”

Review

“Andrew Yang is one of those rare visionaries who puts dreams into action. The War on Normal People is both a clear-eyed look at the depths of our social and economic problems and an innovative roadmap toward a better future.”―Arianna Huffington, Founder and CEO of Thrive Global

“This book is a must read. Andrew Yang is tackling one of the biggest challenges facing our country the way only an entrepreneur can, but unlike most, he sees the big picture. Making money is good for you-but building a strong society and strong people is good for all of us. The topics Andrew addresses in this book aren’t about some dystopian future way down the road. These things are happening today, and every entrepreneur should read this book to understand the challenges of the next decade.”―Daymond John, star of ABC’s Shark Tank, bestselling author of The Power of Broke, and founder of FUBU

REVIEW

I had been on the hunt for a good self-published book for kids, and I found one! After scrolling through ages of diary of a wimpy kid ripoffs and fart books, I have found a excellent self-published book. I would say this would be good for reluctant reader boys aged anywhere from 7, but maybe up to, 13.
I really felt it was important to let you know that I’m not one to treat a self-published book as a traditionally published book because I know there is a lot of junk out there, and that I found this publisher quality.
Verdict: A good read, self-published!

READ or DOWNLOAD

Lady Midnight: The Dark Artifices, Book 1 .The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles star in the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s newest series, The Dark Artifices, a sequel to the internationally best-selling Mortal Instruments series. Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel.

It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.

Together with her parabatai, Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions….

Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother, Mark – who was captured by the faeries five years ago – has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind – and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?

Glitz, glamours, and Shadowhunters abound in this heartrending opening to Cassandra Clare’s Dark Artifices series.

Everyone who plays pool knows that it is “mostly mental,” but the conventional wisdom about the mental game is about as accurate as the idea that the earth is flat. Until now, no one with any expertise on how the human mind works has bothered to write about pool. In Pleasures of Small Motions, Bob Fancher, a psychotherapist and pool columnist, breaks new ground by applying good science to the mental game of billiards. This book does for pool what Timothy Gallwey’s bestselling “The Inner Game” books did for golf and tennis. Fancher explains how the conscious and unconscious mind work together, prescribes drills to help players improve, advises on mastering emotion and developing rhythm, explains the difference between concentration and focus, and gives invaluable insight on competitive play. Reviews

  1. Bought this book on a compulsive whim while obsessing about billiards. Holy crap Tarzan! This little book is changing my life – for the better. This fine piece of work has taught me that to manage endless compulsions, which become obsessive at about three times the speed of light – all I need to do is think about something else. It’s that simple. For 65 years my personal management tool box has been empty. Now I have an effective tool to carry in it. SSRI’s like Prozac can slow down what I call the motor in my head, thereby reducing the power of a particular compulsion/obsession, but SSRI’s cannot actually help manage my OCD thought process as an adult. This wonderful book has given me a new lease on life. I can control my compulsions simply by thinking about something else. Another way of saying it is: I now manage “realistic expectations” as opposed to just bouncing around like a deranged ball in a pin ball machine of despair. Thank you so much Dr. Fancher. Your book has been quite unexpected.
  2. I believe this book is a sincere effort to examine mental aspects of pool. It is relatively well written but promises more than it delivers. What’s new? Its pluses are accurately debunking of many of the meaningless approaches regularly marketed to players trying to improve their skill and results. Minuses are criticisms of common approaches without offering solid reasons for the criticism. I got a few thing but it is too condescending.

Read or Download at http://free.readingbooks.host/?book=1250103509

Be a Kick-Ass Boss .”I raced through Radical Candor–It’s thrilling to learn a framework that shows how to be both a better boss and a better colleague. Radical Candor is packed with illuminating truths, insightful advice, and practical suggestions, all illustrated with engaging (and often funny) stories from Kim Scott’s own experiences at places like Apple, Google, and various start-ups. Indispensable.” ―Gretchen Rubin author of New York Times bestseller The Happiness Project

Reading Radical Candor will help you build, lead, and inspire teams to do the best work of their lives. Kim Scott’s insights–based on her experience, keen observational intelligence and analysis–will help you be a better leader and create a more effective organization.” ―Sheryl Sandberg author of the New York Times bestseller Lean In

“Kim Scott has a well-earned reputation as a kick-ass boss and a voice that CEOs take seriously. In this remarkable book, she draws on her extensive experience to provide clear and honest guidance on the fundamentals of leading others: how to give (and receive) feedback, how to make smart decisions, how to keep moving forward, and much more. If you manage people–whether it be 1 person or a 1,000–you need Radical Candor. Now.” ―Daniel Pink author of New York Times bestseller Drive

From the time we learn to speak, we’re told that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. When you become a manager, it’s your job to say it–and your obligation.

Author Kim Scott was an executive at Google and then at Apple, where she worked with a team to develop a class on how to be a good boss. She has earned growing fame in recent years with her vital new approach to effective management, Radical Candor.

Radical Candor is a simple idea: to be a good boss, you have to Care Personally at the same time that you Challenge Directly. When you challenge without caring it’s obnoxious aggression; when you care without challenging it’s ruinous empathy. When you do neither it’s manipulative insincerity.

This simple framework can help you build better relationships at work, and fulfill your three key responsibilities as a leader: creating a culture of feedback (praise and criticism), building a cohesive team, and achieving results you’re all proud of.

Radical Candor offers a guide to those bewildered or exhausted by management, written for bosses and those who manage bosses. Taken from years of the author’s experience, and distilled clearly giving actionable lessons to the reader; it shows managers how to be successful while retaining their humanity, finding meaning in their job, and creating an environment where people both love their work and their colleagues.
